Coaching: Cohorts

Facilitated group coaching for school communities

Cohort Coaching offers an ongoing, facilitated space for educators and school leaders to reflect, align, and grow together across the school year. Designed for intact groups within a school, cohorts support professional clarity, shared responsibility, and sustainable adult culture—without turning growth into evaluation.

This work recognizes that Montessori practice is held collectively. Cohort Coaching supports the relationships, roles, and systems that make meaningful work possible.

What Is Cohort Coaching?

Cohort Coaching is a school-based coaching partnership for groups of practitioners or leaders who work together within the same system. Unlike one-time professional learning sessions or cross-school communities of practice, cohort work is embedded in your school context and responsive to real-time dynamics.

Each cohort is facilitated by Montessori Makers Group and provides a consistent container for:

  • Reflection on lived experience

  • Collaborative problem-solving

  • Alignment around values and expectations

  • Strengthening communication and trust

  • Translating insight into daily practice

Cohort Coaching is developmental and non-evaluative, focused on learning and sustainability rather than performance or compliance.

Cohort Structures

Cohorts are designed in partnership with school leadership and may be organized by:

  • Teaching Teams (Guides and/or Assistants)

  • Developmental Levels (Toddler, Primary, Elementary)

  • Leadership Teams (Program Directors, Admin Teams, Heads of School)

Each cohort is intentionally composed to support psychological safety, equity, and meaningful dialogue.

Common Areas of Focus

While each cohort responds to the group’s needs, areas of exploration often include:

  • Role clarity and shared responsibility

  • Collaboration and communication within teams

  • Professional presence and classroom leadership

  • Navigating stress, change, and fatigue

  • Boundaries, feedback, and adult trust

  • Aligning daily decisions with Montessori values

  • Strengthening adult culture to support retention and growth

Sessions integrate reflection, dialogue, and practical application grounded in Montessori philosophy and adult development.

How Cohort Coaching Is Different

Cohort Coaching is not a workshop, training, or forum.

  • Workshops focus on content delivery

  • Forums connect individuals across schools

  • Cohort Coaching supports your people, in your system, over time

This work creates continuity—allowing insights, challenges, and progress to be held across sessions rather than addressed in isolation.

Who This Is For

Cohort Coaching is well-suited for schools that:

  • Want to invest in adult development as a system

  • Are navigating growth, transition, or team strain

  • Seek proactive support rather than reactive problem-solving

  • Value reflection, alignment, and shared leadership

  • Want to strengthen culture without adding evaluative pressure

Cohorts support both teaching teams and leaders, making this a flexible offering that can grow alongside your school.

Classroom Interaction
